The International Lesbian and Gay Law Association (ILGLaw) is holding its third conference in Toronto, Canada, co-sponsored by the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and the Law Society of Upper Canada. The Conference will take place from June 26-29, 2005. The title is “Rights are Right” which incorporates three main themes “Right to Live · Right to Sexuality · Right to Love.”
Programme:
Starting on Sunday June 26 the conference delegates will participate in Toronto’s 25th Pride Parade (gathering almost a million participants and viewers) followed by a Reception at Toronto City Hall sponsored by the City of Toronto and Councillor Kyle Rae.
The Conference officially opens at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law on Monday June 27 with the theme The Right To Live. Breakout sessions will focus on health issues related to the LGBT community. The day will end with a Reception in Toronto’s Gay Village.
The Tuesday June 28 plenary session will focus on The Right To Sexuality, with breakout sessions exploring this topic in detail. The night will end with a Gala Dinner at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.
Wednesday June 29 will focus on The Right To Love, when delegates will be treated to a presentation on the Charter by Chief Justice McMurtry. This will be followed by a Canadian and international panel, including former Attorney General of Canada Martin Cauchon and the winning lawyer from the Massachusetts marriage case, Mary Bonauto.
